Since 1982, we have led the effort to develop and provide community services from Gresford to Clarence Town, Dungog to Paterson, Vacy to Martins Creek and the communities in between. We have been at the forefront of nearly every community development.

Dungog Shire Community Centre (The Centre) is here to help people who need it, whoever they are and whatever their situation. The Centre is the not for profit NGO hub for the community. We promote resilience by providing support and development assistance. We advocate on behalf of those with less ’voice’ in the community. We maintain a huge range of activities and services to deliver support and keep people aware of what’s available.

The Centre has a staff of 7. Everyone is part time so we depend on a group of fabulous volunteers who donate their time and skills to help us operate.

Our Mission

The DSCC makes a difference in our community by:

  • Having an open door

  • Identifying needs and providing support

  • Pro actively seeking new opportunities

  • Treating all people equally and fairly

  • Innovating and believing

  • Openly communicating

  • Working hard for the community

The initiatives that we undertake seek to improve the quality of life for all, develop new opportunities, and underpin the long term sustainability of the community.

The Centre - BY our COMMUNITY, FOR our COMMUNITY

The Dungog Shire Community Centre is an NGO (Non Government Organisation), run by local people, for local people. We do receive a mix of funding from various state and federal departments to do some of our key work, as well as private and public donations, but every cent is spent on those local services. It has to be, it’s in our charter!

The DSCC is a Public Benefit Institution (PBI) and has Tax Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR), which means every donation over $2 is tax deductible
